Biography

Over more than 10 years in biomedical research, I have had a long-standing interest in structural and biochemical synaptic alterations in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Since joining Dr. Gylys' laboratory (part of the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer's disease Research at UCLA) in 2010, the main focus of my research is Alzheimer's disease. I received extensive training in a variety of biochemical/cell biology methods as well as in bioassay development. In addition to basic techniques, this includes development of oligomer specific and complex specific sandwich ELISA, flow cytometry analysis of microparticles, co-cultures of neurons and immune cells (microglia and macrophages), and multiplex biomarker assays. As a member of the Drug Discovery Laboratory since 2014, I am working on target identification for new AD drug candidates, development of exosome-based liquid biopsy tests for neurodegenerative disorders and mechanism-based screening of tau propagation inhibitors.
